Welcome To South-East London

Created by John Sullivan (a prominent English television writer), Only Fools And Horses made its debut on BBC One in 1981. It ran for a total of seven seasons, its final episode airing in 2003. To this day, the show remains one of the greatest television sitcoms of all time, having attained critical acclaim and numerous award nominations.

The plot focuses on two men from south-east London: Derek “Del Boy” Trotter (played by actor David Jason) and his younger brother, Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst). Together, they attempt to become rich by engaging in questionable schemes, such as the selling of illegal goods. Said schemes are carried out under the name of Trotters Independent Traders, and a three-wheeled Reliant Regal van facilitates their unsavoury business practices.

During the early days of the show, each episode featured a one-and-done approach to storytelling; however, later seasons started developing long-running plot threads, some of which revolved around Del and Rodney’s relationships. Specifically, Del started seeing Raquel (Tessa Peake-Jones), with whom he had a son, Damien (Patrick McManus, Grant Stevens, Robert Liddement, Jamie Smith, Douglas Hodge, and Ben Smith), and Rodney married Cassandra (Gwyneth Strong).

In addition to the previously mentioned individuals, Only Fools And Horses featured an expansive cast of characters: Edward “Grandad” Trotter (Lennard Pearce), Albert Trotter (Buster Merryfield), Trigger (Roger Lloyd-Pack), Boycie (John Challis), Denzil Tulser (Paul Barber), Sid (Roy Heather), Mickey Pearce (Patrick Murray), Marlene Boyce (Sue Holderness), and Mike Fisher (Kenneth MacDonald) — among other minor names.
